Alipay and WeChat Pay
Payers in China pay from the Alipay app or from WeChat, in Chinese yuan, by scanning a code on the checkout. You are credited the order's value, whatever currency you priced it in.
How the payer pays
- On the checkout the payer chooses Alipay or WeChat Pay and sees the amount in yuan (CNY) before going further.
- The next step shows a payment code for that amount. On a computer the payer scans it with the app on their phone. On a phone they tap Open Alipay or Open WeChat Pay, or save the code and scan it from their photos inside the app.
- The app shows your store's name and the amount, and the payer confirms.
- Once the payment is confirmed you receive
order.paid. The checkout updates by itself.
Amount and codes
- The amount due is converted to yuan at the day's exchange rate when the code is created. An order priced in CNY asks for exactly its amount.
- A code stays payable for 30 minutes, or until the order expires if that is sooner. After that the checkout offers Get a new code as long as the order is open.
- A new code replaces the order's older one. A payment that still lands on the older code counts.
Limits
- One payment can be from 1 to 1,000 CNY, about 0.14 to 140 USD at today's rate. The wallets set this window and may change it.
- Orders outside the window don't show Alipay or WeChat Pay; if those are the only methods you allow, the API answers
400 amount_too_small.
Showing them first
If many of your customers are in China, list the wallets first: "methods": ["alipay", "wechat_pay", "crypto"] on POST /orders shows the methods in that order and preselects Alipay.
Settlement
Alipay and WeChat Pay payments settle to your available balance one day after they are paid. Your dashboard shows the exact schedule for your account.
Refunds and reversals
Refunds you make with POST /orders/:id/refunds are paid in USDT on Tron to a wallet address the payer gives you, or on another network if you pass network; they don't go back to the payer's Alipay or WeChat balance. Tell your customers this in your refund policy.
If a payment is reversed to the payer in Alipay or WeChat, that works like a card chargeback: you receive dispute.opened and dispute.closed (lost) for the order, and the amount plus a 50 USD dispute fee is taken from your balance.
A payer who sends a different amount than the code asked for is not credited automatically: the charge fails with payment_unverified while we look into it, and we contact you about the money.
Testing
In test mode no real code is created and nothing can be paid from the apps. Use Simulate payment on the checkout; it sends the same events. See testing.
