Card payments
Payers use a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Technically they buy USDC from an independent on-ramp provider, which delivers it to you through VelPay.
What the payer sees
- On the checkout the payer chooses Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay.
- Before going further they read this disclosure: "You'll buy USDC (a US-dollar stablecoin) from an independent third-party provider, which delivers it to you through VelPay. Your card statement shows the provider. The provider may charge its own fee and ask you to verify your identity."
- They enter their email (the provider sends the receipt there) and continue to the provider's page.
- They pay at the provider. The checkout updates by itself once the provider confirms, usually within a few minutes.
Pass payer.email when you create the order and the email step is filled in for them.
What to tell your customers
Because the payer is buying from a third party, a few things differ from a normal card payment. Say so in your checkout copy, terms or FAQ:
- The card statement shows the provider's name, not your shop and not VelPay.
- The provider may charge a fee on top of your price and may ask for identity verification, especially on first use or larger amounts.
- Refunds don't go back to the card (see below).
- Questions about the card charge itself go to the provider; questions about the order go to you.
Limits
- Per order: from 10 USD (or the equivalent) unless your account has different limits. Smaller orders don't offer card; if card is the only method you allow, the API answers
400 amount_too_small. - The provider has its own per-payer limits and decides which countries, cards and wallets it accepts. If it declines, the payer can pick another method on the same checkout.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay appear where the provider and the payer's device support them.
Timing and settlement
- You receive
order.paidonce the provider has confirmed the purchase and the USDC has arrived and is checked against the transfer on chain. - The provider session stays open for two hours. A payer who comes back later gets the same session as long as there is enough time left.
- Card payments settle to your available balance one day after they are paid; your dashboard shows the exact schedule for your account.
Disputes
If a payer disputes the purchase with their bank, you receive dispute.opened and the disputed amount plus a dispute fee is taken from your balance at once. You receive dispute.closed when it is decided: if you win, the amount comes back (the fee stays). Keep proof of delivery for card orders.
Refunds
The provider sold the payer USDC; it can't reverse a card charge on your behalf. Refunds for card payments are paid in USDT on Tron to a wallet address the payer gives you, or on another network if you pass network. See POST /orders/:id/refunds.
Testing
In test mode no provider is involved: Simulate payment on the checkout completes the card flow and sends the same events. See testing.
